Qatar Gas Crisis: Iran War Disrupts Global LNG Supply
Qatar's energy industry is facing a major disruption as the continuing Iran war affects liquefied natural gas supplies and global energy markets.
Recent reporting shows that Qatar's LNG cargo exports have fallen dramatically, with shipments dropping to 18 cargoes compared with 509 during the same period a year earlier. The disruption has left large volumes of Qatari gas stranded and created significant financial losses.
The impact is extending beyond Qatar. European markets are watching energy supplies closely, while Asian countries are also facing pressure from higher LNG costs and uncertain shipping conditions.
The energy shock is also encouraging countries in Europe and Asia to accelerate investment in renewable energy and reduce their dependence on vulnerable fossil-fuel supply routes.
The situation demonstrates how quickly a geopolitical conflict can affect energy security, international trade and economies around the world.
