Snowflake’s AI Boom Sends Shares Soaring: Is Artificial Intelligence Finally Driving Software Growth?

Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming more than a technology story.

It is becoming a major business growth engine.

Snowflake provided a strong example this week after its shares surged nearly 25% following a stronger earnings report and an upgraded annual product revenue forecast.

The move also lifted several other major software stocks, suggesting investors are becoming more confident that AI spending can translate into real business growth.

Snowflake Raises Its Forecast

Snowflake raised its fiscal 2027 product revenue forecast to approximately $6.07 billion, up from its previous forecast of $5.84 billion.

The company also reported a 37% increase in second-quarter product revenue.

The results indicate that demand for cloud data infrastructure and AI-related services remains strong.

AI Is Driving More Than AI Products

One of the most important parts of Snowflake's results is that AI isn't simply creating demand for new AI products.

According to CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy, AI accounted for approximately half of the recent acceleration in the company's growth.

That suggests businesses are using AI to generate more activity across their existing cloud and data infrastructure.

In other words, AI can potentially increase demand for the entire technology ecosystem.

AI Tools Are Gaining Customers

Snowflake's AI products are also expanding rapidly.

Its coding assistant, Cortex Code, reached more than 9,100 accounts after adding over 2,000 customers during the quarter.

Its enterprise chatbot, CoWork, expanded to around 5,800 accounts.

These numbers show that companies are increasingly experimenting with AI tools inside everyday business operations.

Investors Are Paying Attention

Snowflake shares were recently up more than 23%, adding roughly $25 billion in market value and reaching their highest level since December 2021.

Other software companies also gained following Snowflake's results.

ServiceNow, Atlassian, Salesforce, Adobe and Intuit all recorded gains, according to Reuters.

But There Is Still a Valuation Question

Strong AI growth does not automatically mean every AI-related company is a good investment.

Snowflake is trading at a significant premium compared with several software peers.

That means investors are already pricing in strong future growth.

If AI demand continues expanding, the valuation could potentially be supported by stronger earnings.

But if growth slows, highly valued software stocks could face pressure.

The Bigger Business Trend

The most important development may be that AI is moving from experimentation toward monetization.

Companies are no longer asking only:

“What can AI do?”

They are increasingly asking:

“Can AI generate measurable business value?”

Snowflake's latest results suggest that, at least for some cloud software companies, the answer may increasingly be yes.

The next phase of the AI boom may therefore be less about impressive demonstrations and more about revenue, productivity and customer adoption.
